Inspections of Roads under the link Zambia 8,000 Road Project by the Road Development Agency – RDA- have started in Lusaka.
And Speaking when he paid a curtsy call on the Lusaka Province Minister Hon BOWMAN LUSAMBO at his office today, RDA Board Chairman Mr SAMUEL MUKUPA says the commencement of the Lusaka road inspections is to ensure at all roads are done within the stipulated time frame.
Mr. MUKUPA says the road linkages that are currently underway are pure evidence that the country is one big construction center.
He says the inspections will be carried out the entire Lusaka Province and all peripheral areas to see how much works have been done so far.
Mr. MUKUPA also says part of the inspections will include checking on Road projects that have entered into defect and liability periods like the Lusaka L400 road project.
He says the Agency will put in place remedial measures to ensure that all projects that had stalled in the province to get back to construction.
Meanwhile Lusaka Province Minister Hon BOWMAN LUSAMBO has challenged RDA to ensure that the pronouncement made by President EDGAR LUNGU to give 20% of sub contracts to local contractors is followed.
Mr. LUSAMBO says local contractors have raised the concerns that the 20% awarding of sub contracts to the locals has not been followed.
He says only a few local contactors have been awarded such contracts which does not amount to the 20% pronouncement made by the President.
Dr. LUSAMBO has since expressed joy that the inspections have started and has further stated that he hopes projects like the Chiyawa/Chirundu road that were stalled can be worked on in order to decongest most road Networks in the province.
