Hakainde Hichilema Moved To Mukobeko Maximum Prison in Kabwe

Hakainde Hichilema who is facing treason charges for obstructing President Edgar Lungu’s motorcade has claimed via a Facebook post that he has been moved to Mukobeko Maximum Prison under the escort of armed Policemen.

His lawyer has since cried foul saying the move defy’s a court order that said Hichilema should be held in a Lusaka Prison. Hichilema had been held in Lusaka Central Prison since April 2017.

Hakainde Hichilema has received support from South African opposition leader, Mmusi Maimane, Party Leader of the opposition Democratic Alliance in South Africa. Maimane was earlier denied entry into Zambia by Zambian Officials who sent him back when he touched down to make an appearance at one of Hichilema’s court hearings.

Maimane is on record to have said Hichilema’s trial was a political witch hunt by the Zambian Government who took an exception to his position on internal Zambian affairs.
